HFO Midwest helped local educators fill the skills gap in 2019 by providing $871,811 in grants and equipment discounts! Of that total, $466,000 came from grants provided by the Gene Haas Foundation. Gene Haas founded the foundation and 1999 to partner with schools and organizations to expose students to careers in manufacturing and provide means for them to pursue those opportunities. In the past 5 years, the GHF has awarded over 65 million dollars to schools and student organizations.
Gene Haas is the founder and owner of Haas Automation, Inc., America’s leading builder of CNC machine tools. Founded in 1983, Haas Automation has grown to become a billion-dollar company during an era when Americans were being told that the United States doesn’t manufacture anything anymore. Those perceptions have led to dire statistics with regards to vocational education, which the GHF seeks to repair.
